Sara’s and Gunnar’s ARCHIPELAGO HOUSE • Following many years of looking for the perfect house without ever finding it, Sara and Gunnar decided to build their own dream home. Inspired by the New England style and assisted by architect Heidi Mikaelsen, they’ve created an impressive home measuring 3,230 ft2 (300 m2) in the archipelagos of Stockholm where being close to nature, the sea and the city enriches their everyday life.

Modern SUMMERY OPEN SANDWICHES

Adding new life to additions, annexes and orangeries

ADDING LIFE TO THE BARN – a light multi-purpose room

Frida’s GREEN HAVEN

A GREENHOUSE to extend the summer season

A NEW PURPOSE for the old summer cottage • Lene and Jan, a creative couple from the town of Høng in Denmark, have used their passion for recycling and their sense of community to add new life to an old summer cottage in their idyllic garden. The summer cottage, which was on the verge of being demolished, was carefully dismantled, transported and rebuilt on their plot of land. Based on a careful sense of detail and a deep-felt respect for the history of the materials, the couple added "new" old windows, built a kitchen and turned the house into what is now known as "Forsamlingshuset" – the village hall – and this name just oozes of community and get-togethers.

NEWLY BUILT out of recycling materials • Tine Gertsen isn’t only our talented magazine photographer with a good sense of detail, she’s also a passionate antiques dealer who loves French treasures. Tine and her husband, Tommy, who’s a carpenter, have a shared passion for rebuilding and preserving. A few years ago, they made a dream come true when they bought a charming, old villa which didn’t only become their home but also the center of Tine’s business.

ORANGERIES AND ANNEXES from the past 15 years

EVOCATIVE CHARM in the overgrown garden • Join us as we visit the small fairy-tale garden belonging to Käte Pia Morell and her husband, Kåre Christensen. This small half-timbered house is from 1926 and measures just 904 ft2 (84 m2). The garden is approx. 6500 ft2 (600 m2). The couple loves their tiny house and the wonderful, overgrown garden with its evocative charm.

Summer means SUNFLOWERS

Beautiful HANDMADE BASKETS

Creativity and quality in the dairy store • Tine and Lars have been running their own dairy store since 2014. The couple has created a unique place that offers much more than just ice cream. This is a place where you notice the owners’ love of proper handicraft and their focus on the details.

A COZY BREAK IN THE GARDEN

LET’S CELEBRATE! • Go to the sea or enjoy yourselves in the garden, invite family and friends over for a small party, tickle your taste buds and indulge in some delicious food, and do something fun together. That’s the essence of the book "Hip hip hurra" (available in Danish) which is full of ideas for easy and festive delicacies, invitations, activities and decorations for parties and birthdays all year round. Festive summer moments in the garden or at the beach also turn out much nicer when you add the little extras.

Emma’s cozy house
